IT-Cooling
For IT, AI, and data center applications
Cooling Data Tank (CDT)
FROM DEMO SYSTEM TO SERIES-READY COOLING SOLUTION FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE ELECTRONICS
Together with a leading German manufacturer of highly efficient cooling solutions and heat exchangers, Deutsche Mechatronics GmbH (DTMT) develops and manufactures high-efficiency two-phase immersion cooling systems in various performance classes for international OEM customers.
The project example presented here demonstrates a fully functional demo system that was realized as a practical use case within a very short development time of just three months. The objective is to provide customers with a compact test platform for IT cooling, enabling them to realistically evaluate their own IT, AI and high-performance applications prior to scaling.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
- High-performance data centers
- AI training and inference systems
- Edge computing infrastructures
- Decentralized data and AI nodes
- Applications with high power density at limited Footprints

FROM DESIGN CONCEPT TO SERIES SOLUTION
At the beginning of every project are design, product ideas and requirements management. In close collaboration with the customer, the project is planned and key parameters are defined.
Following successful onboarding as well as the design, testing and evaluation phases, a customer-specific series solution for edge, AI or data center applications can be jointly implemented and industrialized.
- Project-specific requirements and small to medium series
- Regular series production deliveries
- Scalable production and industrialization concepts
Typical for OEM projects: first testing and validation – then scaling and transition into series production.
Technology: Two-Phase Immersion Cooling
Immersion cooling is considered a technological breakthrough in the cooling of high-performance electronics.
In this process, server and IT components are immersed directly in an electrically non-conductive cooling medium.
In two-phase immersion cooling systems, the cooling medium evaporates as it absorbs heat and then condenses in a closed loop.
This results in:
- Very high heat dissipation in a very small space
- Significantly reduced energy losses
- Significantly higher energy efficiency compared to air or water cooling
Depending on the system design, energy savings of up to 97% can be achieved—particularly relevant for AI workloads and high-performance data centers.

DTMTs Scope

FAQ
Drawing on our cross-industry system expertise, we combine mechanical engineering, control cabinet construction, electrical engineering, and thermal integration to create practical, end-to-end solutions—from design through to series production.
The systems are scalable up to 60U.
This makes them suitable for high-density applications as well.
Each unit can achieve cooling capacities of well over 500 kW.
The precise design in terms of size, performance, and integration is project-specific and is defined in collaboration with customers and technology partners—tailored to the respective technical and operational requirements.
Immersion cooling is one possible technology, but it is not a limitation. Drawing on our expertise in control cabinets and system integration, DTMT implements a variety of IT cooling concepts for its customers—including air- and liquid-based solutions, control cabinet-integrated systems, and comparable technologies such as CDU coolers (Coolant Distribution Units).
This cross-industry expertise enables us to evaluate and strategically implement a wide range of cooling and integration concepts—even beyond traditional data center solutions. This results in technically robust and economically viable IT cooling systems.
DTMT sees itself as an implementation and integration partner for all aspects of its customers’ core competencies.
Core technologies that customers typically provide – e.g.:
- Heat exchangers
- Fluid and vapor management concepts
- Specific refrigeration or media technologies
- Material compatibility
must be defined and provided by the customer. Based on this, DTMT handles the structural, electrical, and mechanical integration, including the control cabinet, system design, and manufacturing.
Our strength lies not in developing our own cooling units, but in system-level implementation, integration into cabinet and machine designs, and production-ready implementation all the way through to series production.
DTMT’s core strength lies in its holistic approach:
- Control cabinet and enclosure designs
- Electrical design and integration
- Mechanical and electrical assembly
- Thermal system integration
- Qualification and certification
- Mass production and custom manufacturing
This provides customers with an integrated, scalable IT cooling solution without having to coordinate multiple interfaces.
Getting involved early on—for example, during the layout, control cabinet design, or integration strategy phases—enables sustainable optimization of installation space, costs, and system complexity.
